Sun 16 Aug - Scafell (as opposed to Scafell Pike) from Wasdale

Scafell is a mountain that we rarely ascend. This walk offers the opportunity to tackle this interesting mountain. I have chosen an easier route to avoid any major scrambling. Ascent via the grassy slopes on the west side of the mountain and descent via Foxes Tarn, and down from the Mickledore Ridge. Back to Wasdale Head. If weather permits and we are feeling energetic, there is the possibility of ascending Scafell Pike also which would add about an hour to the walk.

Start time: 10.05 am
Parking: at Wasdale Head Green (free) NY 187085
Distance: 6.25 miles - 7 miles (depending on whether we ascend Scafell Pike also)
Time: 4.5 - 6 hours (depending on whether we ascend Scafell Pike also)
Ascent: 1050m - 1200m (depending on whether we ascend Scafell Pike also)
Grade: Strenuous

IF THE CONDITIONS ARE BAD I RESERVE THE RIGHT TO MODIFY THE ROUTE OR CANCEL THE WALK, IF INSUFFICIENT INTEREST IS SHOWN IN A WALK IT MAY BE
CANCELLED.
