Sun 26 Jul - Moorings and Moorland - Pendle area

The walk for Sunday was cancelled however luckily we have a new leader, Mark Roper.
The walk is in the Pendle area. See details below. Looks like a great walk.
Walk title- Moorings and Moorland
Meet point- Foulridge village green at 10.30am
Grid ref- SD889423, postcode- BB8 7PN
Parking- Street parking around the village green, also factory car park can be used at weekends.
Length: 11 miles
Walk discription- a varied walk starting from Mark's home village of Foulridge, the walk includes Lake Burwain, the entrance to the mile tunnel on the Leeds-Liverpool canal, Slipperhill resovoir, Pub stop at the Anchor Inn at Salterforth, and Kelbrook Moor.
If anyone fancies food after the walk there is the option of going to Mark's local, The New Inn where the they do proper pub grub.

Sunday 19 July – Latterbarrow and Wray Castle from Hawkshead



Start Point: Car park at Hawkshead Primary School, LA22 0NT. Grid Ref 352 979 at 9.30. Honesty box is £3. 

Description
From Hawkshead village we head towards Loanthwaite Lane to the summit of Latterbarrow.  We descend Latterbarrow and walk through woodland to Belle Grange ferry stop, on Windermere Shore. We then take the lake path to Wray Castle.  Finally we head back to Hawkshead to sample either a pub or cafĂ©. This is a walk with a small fell, woodland, lake shore and fields offering great variety and amazing views.

Total Ascent: approx. 350 metres

High Point: 232 metres

Time: 5 hours

Length: Approx 8 miles

Grade: Moderate

Sun 12 Jul - Dollywaggon Pike and Helvellyn from Dunmail Raise

Sunday 12th July - Dollywaggon Pike and Helvellyn from Dunmail Raise (Summer Version)

Start: Roadside parking at the top of Dunmail Raise
Start Time: 10am Grid Reference : NY 330 110
Description: I am repeating a summer version of this walk by request. This is an easier route up Dollywagon Pike and Helvellyn with the promise of great views on a clear day. (Starting at the summit of Dumail Raise reduces the ascent by about 230m.)
Route: Dunmail Raise - Grisedale Tarn - Dollywagon Pike - Nethermost Pike - Helvellyn - Birkside - Comb Crags - Wythburn - Dunmail Raise
Distance: Roughly 6.5 Miles
Highest Point: 949 metres
Grade: Strenuous - I have given it this grading as it is a mountain walk although it is one of the easier ways up Helvellyn.
Time: 5 to 5.5 Hours

Start Point: Lay-by about 200yds (183m!) North of junction of A6 by Levens Hall

Description: Footpath // to River Kent / Sedgwick / Wilson Place / beside river again / Hawes Bridge / former canal towpath / Levens Park / back
Distance: 6.5 miles (10.5 km)
Total Ascent: 70 metres!! (230 ft.)
High Point: Lancaster / Kendal Canal - 44 metres (144 ft.)
Time: 3.5 - 4 hours
Grade: Leisurely
