Sun 2 Jan - Brunt Knott and Wilf's

A moderate walk over the outlying fells, with a well-earned visit to Wilf's cafe afterwards. Leaving Staveley via a short section of road, we soon arrive on a grassy path that leads to Potter Tarn and the famous "wall through a pool". This is followed by a long climb to the summit of Brunt Knott where you are rewarded with excellent views of the high fells of the Lake District. We then descend a grassy route into a dip before a short ascent to an unnamed summit, before returning via Gurnal Dubs back to Potter Tarn and the warmth of Wilf's cafe.

Distance: 6.5 miles
Total ascent: 500m
Time: 4.5 hrs
Grade: 2
Start: 10 am. Parking in Wood Mill Yard car park, Staveley (SD 470984) next to Wilf's cafe.
