Description: A
circular walk from Gunnerside in the Yorkshire Dales. From Gunnerside we
initially follow the path through a small woodland before a fairly steep ascent
up the Gill where we shall see some
remains of the lead mining industry. We shall cross the beck over a
small bridge and follow the obvious path which leads to part of the Coast to
Coast path surrounded by open heather moorland. From here we head to Swinner
Gill and back to Gunnerside.
Grade: Moderate (some rugged terrain and steep climbs)
Distance: Approx. 9 miles

Car Parking: There is parking
in the village although limited by the bridge. If these spaces are full further
parking is on the road leading out of Gunnerside in the direction of Low Row.
Camping – if you wish to
come the night before there is a campsite at Tan Hill, the highest pub in England.
Approximately a 15 minute drive to the start of the walk. Camping is £5 and is
described as ‘Wild Camping’. There is also rooms or mixed dorms.
Alternatively there is further camping in Reeth or Muker.
