Sun 28 Jul - Tilberthwaite

Tilberthwaite (Nr Coniston) and Little Langdale Stroll!
(Many Thanks to Dan for the walk description!

Start point:
Roughly one and a half miles North of Coniston village, on the A593, turn left onto a single track road.
After another mile the main Tilberthwaite parking area is reached on the left, just before the bridge over Yewdale Beck (G.R. NY 306010.

Description:
From the car park we head along the lane. At High Tilberthwaite Farm, after passing through the farmyard, the path climbs gently up onto the Knotts, giving good views of Lingmoor Fell and the Langdale Pikes.
Dan informs me this is where we may see deer and interesting bird life!
We then descend, (gently may I add!) to pass Atkinson Coppice and continue our walk until we approach the very old Slaters Bridge, where we continue until we arrive at our pub lunch destination otherwise known as The Three Shires Inn!
The last section of the walk, after we have been suitably refreshed, is again a gentle and pleasant walk across the River Brathay, along a track past the disused Hodge Close quarry to reach High Tilberthwaite Farm and back to the cars. Nothing epic, just a pleasant hop, skip and jump!

Leader: Rachel (moby 07786 733539)
The walk is approx 4 miles. Grade 2
Start time 11 a.m.
