Sun 15 May - Rannerdale bluebells walk

A walk with some small ups and downs in one of the most picturesque valleys of the Lake District.

From the path below Whiteside, to a short climb up Brackenthwaite Hows, we then descend through woodland where red squirrels hide out, reaching the edge of Crummock water and a shoreline path. On arriving in Rannerdale, a spectacular display of bluebells covering the fields is a sight worth seeing. A steady ascent of Rannerdale Knotts provides amazing views of the entire valley, followed by a steep descent and a return to the start.

Distance: 7.5 miles
Time: 4.5 hours
Total ascent: 350m
Grade: 2.5
Start: 10 am at Lanthwaite Green car park. Grid ref. NY159208
Leader: Phil (07958 698905)
