Mickle Fell is the highest point of County Durham below cross fell and lies inside the Warcop firing range. I have secured us a permit to visit this wild area and summit a hill that not many people get the chance to walk.
This walk first takes us on a circuit of Bellbeaver Rigg 620m and Viewing Hill 649m which are grassy summits with views towards the lakes and yorkshire dales on a clear day. We then follow the cumbria way to the north of Mickle Fell to follow the prescribed route along the fence to the summit. We then retrace our steps back to the cumbria way and make our way back to the cars through fields and on tracks.
Please note this walk is long to fit in all the summits. Around 20miles so there will be an option of a shorter walk on the same day. Some areas will be pathless. Mickle Fell is not well walked for obvious reasons. All walkers MUST stick to the prescribed route and not detour on Mickle Fell. Members of the Yorkshire group and other groups will be coming on this walk so a chance to get to know other people.
Please contact leader for carshare if you would like a lift. Start 9am
