Walk for 21st December - Coniston Fells

Start Point: Layby, on E side of A593, to NE of Torver & Crook (G.R. SD 287 946 @ 10.00)

Description: Little Arrow / follow Torver Beck / Big Hole (a disused flooded quarry with a good waterfall at the far end) / Walna Scar Road / down metalled lane / @ switchback bends take F/P (on L) / Miners Bridge / turn L up the Coppermines Valley / wide rising track on R / ignore Red Dell path on L / shortly, ignore path straight on to a quarry & bear L / follow slate path up the valley side / Hole Rake (old packhorse route) / pass tarn / good view ahead of the Fairfield Horseshoe, Seat Allen & Loughrigg / Tilberthwaite Gill / near the bottom - ignore the steps & carry on down the grassy slope to the R / walk // to the A593 / @ Far End contour above the houses / turn R up the Coppermines Valley / Miners Bridge (again) / Dixon Ground / Sun Inn (?) / follow the line of the old Coniston Railway track back to the cars
