Meeting point - Glencoyne Bridge car park OL5 387188 (NT Car Park so there are charges. It is possible to park in lay-bys near by and walk back).
Description: A circular walk from Glencoyne Bridge by Ullswater to Sheffield Pike and back via Greenside Mines and Glenridding.
Route: From car park we’ll walk along the shore to pick up the footpath up through the woods to Seldom Seen before ascending up the side of Sheffield Pike up Bleaside Bank on a good stony path. At the Nick Head we’ll turn left to do a there and back to the highest point at Sheffield Pike (highly likely to be boggy). There’s no path on the map, but there is one on the ground. From Sheffield Pike weather permitting there are good views down Ullswater. Returning back to the path we will descend to the quarries in Greenside. The path continues down steeply down, zig-zagging through the mine workings and there will be the opportunity to explore the surface remains for anyone interested. Once at the hostels it’s a gradual descent down Greenside Road to Glenridding. We may stop here for tea/cake although it’s a fairly short walk so it may not be long since lunch. We then pick up the shore path/Ullswater Way to head back to the cars.
