Sun 13 April - Silver How, Loughrigg and Bluebells

A yomp across two of Lakeland's smaller fells, overlooking the
picturesque Grasmere, culminating in a stroll through the bluebell
woods of White Moss Common.

The walk starts from Grasmere village, ascending Silver How via Allan
Bank, then continuing down to Red Bank. The ascent of Loughrigg is
slightly steep, but does not take too long, and the view from the top
is usually worth it. A gradual descent to Brow Head Farm, followed by
a walk alongside the River Rothay takes us to Rydal Water. Crossing
the bridge into Penny Rock Woods and then over the road to White Moss
common. Then it is only a short walk back to the start in Grasmere.

Distance: 8 miles
Total ascent: 600m
Time: 5 hrs
Grade: 2
Start: 10 am at Grasmere Primary School Car Park (honesty box
donation), Stock Lane, LA22 9SJ (Grid ref. NY339073)

Leader: Phil (07958 698905)
