A walk through the high mountains, visiting Scafell Pike's much overlooked neighbour, Great End.
Starting from Seathwaite farm, a good stone path leads up to Styhead tarn, before continuing onto the classic corridor route. We then turn off to make the final 300 m of ascent to reach Great End summit.
Descent to Esk Hause and back over Glaramara to the start.
Distance: 8 miles
Highest point: 910 m
Time: 6 hours
Grade: 3 (Strenuous, moderate pace)
Start: 10.00 am at Seathwaite farm/campsite (park on roadside), Grid ref: NY235122 (postcode CA12 5XJ).
Directions: Take the Borrowdale Road (B5289) from Keswick towards Seatoller, and turn off where it is signposted Seathwaite. Continue for about 1 mile until you reach the farm.
