Sun 4 Nov - Stott Park Heights

Hidden away in the quiet western fringes of Windermere is the modest peak of Stott Park Heights, which offers some of the best views of the lake and its surroundings. The walk starts at Lakeside and passes through the village before entering Great Knott Wood. A steep climb to the tower on Summer House Knott, is followed by a steep descent (some sections may be slippy or squelchy - no stilettos please!) to Finsthwaite village. We then continue upstream, past many waterfalls to reach the secluded High Dam reservoir, which used to provide the water power for the nearby bobbin mill. Bearing away from the reservoir, we emerge from the trees to make the short diversion to Stott Park Heights and admire the views. Return journey is via a circuit of High Dam and back to Lakeside.
