Sun 29 Apr - Dentdale to Ribblehead Linear Walk

We start at Ribblehead Station with a 10 minute train ride on the Settle Carlisle railway. This crosses the Ribblehead Viaduct to Dent Station. The walk is a linear walk back to our start point and commences from Dent Railway Station (the highest station in England!), crosses upper Dentdale and Blea Moor, ascends the summit of Whernside, and drops down to finish at Ribblehead Railway Station. The cost of the train ride is currently £3.10.

Start: We catch the 10.27 am train from Ribblehead Railway Station, NGR: SD 765 789. Meet on platform 2 (northbound for Carlisle ) of Ribblehead Railway Station at least 5 mins beforehand and don’t be late! The cost of the train ride is currently £3.10. There is loads of free parking in the area, although it does get busy on nice days.

Distance: 10.5 miles
Terrain: quiet country roads, boggy paths over Blea Moor, stone paths gradually climbing up and down Whernside
Ascent: 590 metres
Time: about 5.5-6 hours

Sun 15 Apr - Potter Tarn

Start time: walk - 10.30 am (With the option of meeting for breakfast at Wilf's at 9.30)
Description: Take the (fairly steep) path near Barley Bridge up to Littlewood farm (with great views of the nearby fells) and then on to Potter tarn. We then follow the river Kent to Staveley where we have 2 pubs, a brewery and a cafe to choose from! There are a few steep sections, but none are difficult, and this is a fairly gentle and very pleasant walk in some beautiful countryside. As always, new members are very welcome.

Total Ascent: 395 metres (1300 feet)
High Point: Potter tarn
Time: 3.5 hours
