Sun 10 July - Stony Cove Pike, Troutbeck Valley & Wansfell

This is a reasonably long, but very varied, walk that starts with an ascent from the Kirkstone Pass , via St Raven’s Edge, to Stony Cove Pike. A steep descent from here leads into the tranquil and gentle surroundings of the Troutbeck Valley which we follow to Troutbeck village. Another climb is required to Wansfell and Baystones and from there we drop down to the track that parallels, and eventually joins, The Struggle. A section of road returns us to The Kirkstone Inn and refreshments ahoy!

Distance: 12.25 miles
Time: about 8 hours
Ascent: 740 metres
Terrain: pretty much every type of terrain found in the fells: steep ascents and descents on rough ground in the high fells, valley bog with no footpaths, but also well-defined stone tracks and paths in some places. Bon voyage!
Start: Kirkstone Pass Inn car park NGR: NY 401 081 @ 9:30am
