26 Dec - Boxing Day Walk/ winter skills training

I am planning an ice axe and crampon training day near Red Tarn, Helvellyn.
Also for those brave enough to build a snow cave and spend a snug night in it.
You will need ice axe and crampons, old waterproofs for sliding in, gaitors, plenty of warm layers, hot drink etc. If you plan to stay over night thermarest warm sleeping bag, bivvy bag, candles, head torch, stove, food, snow shovel or saw if you have one and a gsoh.

Meet at 11am in Glenridding
Walk up to Red Tarn and find suitable snow slope for training, possibly slopes of Catsycam. People not staying over can make their own way back to Glenridding, the rest will make a snow cave and come down the next day.
