Sun 29th Nov - Binsey from Bassenthwaite

A more interesting way of doing the most northly Wainwright, incorporating a part of the Cumbrian Way!

Park in Bassenthwaite Village at 'Back Hill' (Grid Ref 231323), which is by the Avenue of trees on the Village green, next to the bus stop. Alternatively you can park in the Sun Inn overspill car park, but please inform the pub that you have done this.(We will be having a drink in there later).

The walk ascends quite steeply through Park Wood, then it is relatively flat through high Bewaldeth and onto Fell End Farm including a short road section. From here we ascend Binsey (447m) from the West and then drop down the other side. A short stretch on the road takes us past Overwater Hall, before open fields and a section of the Cumbrian Way, returns us back through Park Wood.

NOTE: THIS WALK IS LIKELY TO BE VERY MUDDY AFTER RECENT RAINFALL. INCASE OF FURTHER BAD WEATHER PLEASE ADVISE LEADER IF YOU ARE PLANNING TO JOIN THE WALK INCASE THE WALK IS CANCELLED AT THE LAST MINUTE.
