A two day walk with one nights Camping following the last two days of the West Highland Way in Scotland.
The plan is to drive up on 19th Feb, take a few cars to Fort William (the end of the walk) and return to Glen Coe Youth Hostel for Thursday night (cost about £15). On the Friday and Saturday we will Walk the last 2 days of the West Highland Way with one nights rough camping in between (Friday Night). On the Saturday night we will stop in Glen Nevis Youth Hostel at the end of the walk (cost about £15). Returning home and collecting cars on the Sunday 22nd Feb.

Total distance will be roughly 25 miles over 2 days.

Final details TBC

Although the walk is fairly low level, it will be a moderately difficult walk as it is in the winter. Although people are not expected to bring winter mountaineering gear (Ice Axe Crampons), it will be necessary to have clothing and equipment suitable for winter camping. It is advisable to have some knowledge of camping in cold weather.

DEADLINE FOR BOOKING 31st Jan 2009 (to allow enough time to organise the event)

For further details or to let me know you want to come please contact Malcolm 07826486155 or email chsd@tesco.net

How about doing a lower level Scotland backpack on these days? Perhaps West Highland Way up to Fort BIll? Train to say Rannoch Moor or earlier stop then walk to FW and train back to Cumbria / Lancashire.

Anyone up for that?
