Walk for Sunday 9th March - Blencathra

SUN 9TH BLENCATHRA FROM SCALES
LEADER ANNE K 07729 903 852
This walk makes a complete tour of Blencathra’s south face, and includes all tops (apart From Atkinson Pike). I will not be including Sharp Edge in this winter walk. Anyone wishing to include this scramble may do so at their own risk, provided they have the relevant technical experience. We walk first up Scales Fell, Blencathra's most easterly fell, and continue to Doddick Fell, Hallsfell Top, the summit, and Gategill. The descent is via Blease Fell, the most westerly top.Although not technically challenging or long, this walk requires sustained effort throughout. The approx. ascent is 2,300 ft /700 metres.
Please bring plenty of food and drink and warm clothes (NO JEANS).
Grade: 3 / 4Distance: 6 miles / 10km
Start: 10.00, lay-by at Scales along the A66 (NY 339267).
Car share: from Kendal Morrisons at 09.00

If the weather on Sunday is bad, I'll put on an alternative low-level walk, probably in St John's in the Vale.

Starting point / time are the same (Scales, along A66, 10:00 AM).
