Simon is unable to lead this walk due to ankle / knee problems. I've agreed to put on an alternative walk (hope this doesn't cause any confusion!)
The walk is:
Newlands Round (minus Robinson), starting from Hawes End
This route takes in Cat Bells, Maiden Moor, High Spy, Dale Head, Hindscarth, High Crags, Red Knot and Scope End.
On a clear day, we should get some fantastic panoramic views, including of Derwentwater, Skiddaw, Blencathra, the Newlands Valley, the Coledale Fells and Buttermere. If the weather turns bad, there are several "escape routes" to choose from!
Length: Approx. 10 miles, approx. 6 hours
Ascent: Approx. 2,900 ft
Start: Hawes End, NY248212, on single track road to Skelgill
Meet: 10 AM at Hawes End, Low Wood Hotel at 09.00 for car share
