This is a long and strenuous walk so be well prepared with water, food, equipment and plenty of energy!!!The walk starts in Ambleside leading out along Smithy Brow road then up Sweeden bridge road past some cottages. We will follow a stony track to Scandale Beck. From here we will continue up and join a path that leads alongside Scandale Tarn. We go NW along a fence to join a steeper climbwith views of Helvellyn. We then climb up some rocks to Heart Crag. We will next ascend the Eastern arm of Fairfield to reach the summit. We descend southwards onto Heron Pike for a bit of a ridge walk. Following this we descend steeply in a zigzag motion and finally reach Rydal mount. We turn left along the road and back into Ambleside.

It is also the Windermere air show and Fairfield will be a great spot to see it from.
