The route takes us through the quiet woods of Little Langdale and on to Blea Tarn. We will pass through the insanely narrow squeeze on Side Pike and scramble to the summit of Lingmoor Fell. The return to Skelwith Bridge will be through the rolling landscape around Colwith.

Sun 24th Jan - Haystacks & Fleetwith Pike
A circular walk in the Northern Fells to complete two Wainwright peaks and a visit to the Innominate Tarn. Meeting in Buttermere we walk along the side of Buttermere and then up the Scarth Gap Pass before a steep climb to the top of Haystacks (597m) before walking past the tarn to ascend Fleetwith Pike (648m). We will then come down Fleetwith Edge before coming back along Buttermere. If the weather is bad or it is very icy underfoot we will complete a shorter walk around Buttermere and climb Rannerdale Knots.

Sun 17th Jan - Kendal to Windermere or winter skills training
Kendal to Windermere
Grade:2/3
Start Time: 9:30am
Meeting Place: Lay-by on Brigsteer Road by footpath to Scout Scar, just west of Kendal (502918)
We will walk over Scout Scar then head west towards Crook, and then pick up the Dales Way into Windermere. This will be followed by a well deserved drink before hopefully catching the 1500 train back to Kendal (later train at 1600 if required - cost £3.90). We will then walk approx 2 miles back to the car.

Also if anybody interested Rob is willing to take anyone with ice axe and crampons into the mountains for a day of ice axe training, snow shelter building and general winter skills.

A Gentle Ramble around the outskirts of Bowness and Windermere

Start 10am outside Bowness Tourist Info centre on the Glebe
Heading along the Rayrigg Road to Queen Adelaide Hill and the lake shore, up towards Windermere, onto Orrest head to see fine views of lake Windermere and the mountains.
Lunch in The Lighthouse cafe in Windermere
Returning to Bowness via School Knott and School Knott tarn.
More cafes in Bowness at the end of walk.

Short (from Grassmere) Grassmere, helm crag, gibson knotts, calf crag, steel fell, helmside, grassmere 7.5 miles grade C
Long Scafell pike from either Langdale or seathwaite 10-12 miles grade B - note; this will be an early start and will involve a drive to the start point of up to 25 miles
