The three peaks of Windermere

A pleasant autumn walk enjoying woodland, field paths, winding lanes and three low summits surrounding Windermere and Bowness.

The route takes in Elleray Wood, Orrest head, Ings, School Knott, part of the Dales Way, Brant Fell, Bowness, Longlands - Beemire pony track (beech trees)

Start point / time 11am. Birthwaite road, Windermere village, gr 412 983

(off main "a" road opposite the Ellerthwaite lodge hotel just south of shops).

Car share possible at Morisons Ccarpark, Kendal at 10,30 am

Distance 5.5 miles

Time : 4 to 6 hours pub lunch optional at Ings, tea rooms in Bowness and a chance to buy discounted goods at Stuart Sports in Bowness.

Ascent - approx 350 mt

Grade 1 easy

Walk for Sunday 4^th November – Dunnerdale Fells, Duddon Valley

A walk over the peaceful Dunnderdale Fells on the edge of the Duddon Valley. Starting at Broughton Mills it takes in the pint-sized, but nevertheless perfectly formed, Great Stickle, Stickle Pike and Caw, and returns via the Lickle Valley.

Distance: 7.5 miles

GENERAL INFORMATION FOR NEW MEMBERS

We have a large selection of walks catering for all levels of experience and stamina, from gentle strolls to energetic ridge walks requiring a good degree of fitness and stamina.

Please see our guide on walk gradings to see what would suit you best.

If you would like to do a walk please phone the walk leader of that particular walk for more details.

We are always pleased to welcome new members on our walks to get their boots dirty. We request that new members choose an easier walk to begin with (leisurely or moderate). Please call the walk leader prior to the walk to introduce yourself.

You can do a couple of taster walks before you join the Ramblers. If you wish to join click on the Ramblers website link below and put "summitt good 20's to 30's " as the group you wish to join.

Our walks are off road in rural areas. Please have suitable footwear and clothing for the walk you intend to join (no jeans), and bring some food and drink, even if the walk includes a pub stop. Leaders may refuse to accept participants who in their opinion are inadequately equipped or unfit.
