Sun 18 Mar - Aye Gill Pike

This is a great walk starting from the little village of Dent in the Yorkshire Dales. Starting from the main car park in Dent we go through the cobbled street and make the main and only real accent of the day up the slopes of the great mound of Aye Gill Pike. A steepish climb but done in our own time and pace up fields which are a little wet and boggy in places. The climb is well worth the views from the top (fingers crossed for a clear day!) of the surrounding valleys, the Howgills and the Lake district fells. We follow the ridge line back down and around to the valley bottom below then walk on the path along the river Dee and back to the cars.

Start: 10.30am Main pay and display Car Park in the centre of Dent. £4.50 for the whole day. Grid reference SD704870. OS map:OL 2 Yorkshire Dales Southern and Western Area.
