Wed 5 Nov - Fireworks in Kendal

Sorry for late notice, but can you let the group know that a few of us are convening outside the Castle Inn for the fireworks in Kendal on the Castle Mound at 7:30pm please? We’ll be leaving the pub at 7:15pm prompt if anyone else would like to come along. (NB Head torch recommended for the way back down. Childish enthusiasm for fireworks also helpful ;) )

I’ve not organised a meal (as has occurred in previous years) after as I’ll be heading home after but if anyone else wants to co-ordinate something, they’d be welcome to.

Sun 2 Nov - High Street and Kidsty Pike

A high level walk starting from the peaceful valley of Mardale, up the gently rising slope of Riggindale crag. We pass by the cliffs that have been home to the Lakeland golden eagle, and up higher to reach the historic Roman road on High Street (summit at 828m). The top is fairly flat but steadily descends to the recognisable peak of Kidsty Pike. The path then leads down to the shores of Haweswater and back to the car park.

The route is weather dependent and an alternative route will be followed in the event of poor conditions. Please contact the walk leader if you are thinking of coming.

Total ascent: 700m
Grade: 3
Start: 10.00 am at RSPB car park, Haweswater. Grid ref NY469107
