Wed 27 Jun - Natland

Place: Natland village green- outside the church gate

We will walk out of the village along lanes and across fields to reach
Oxenholme Station before walking along the ridge of The Helm and back
down into Natland. A lovely little hill with excellent views.
Station Inn and The Punchbowl are both on or very close to the route.

Distance: 6km
Height: Less than 200m

Sun 17 Jun - Great and Green Gable from Langdale

Start 09.00 at Old Dungeon Ghyll National Trust car park (the second one on the right) in Langdale valley.
GR 236 061 OL Leisure map No 6 SW sheet.
Distance 20 Km
Ascent 1200 Mts
Time 9 Hours
Grade 4/5

We set out behind the pub in a NW  direction along the Cumbrian way along Mickleden, branching W up Rosset Gill 600mts to Angle Tarn, carrying on NW reaching Sprinkling Tarn 600mts on to Sty Head 496mts at the foot of Great Gable of which we ascend the SW ridge for 400mts to gain the summit at 899mts.

After taking in the magnificent views we head NE  to Windy Gap 750mts then a short ascent of 50mts to gain Green Gables' summit. We leave the top to descend Aaron Slack to Sty Head Tarn 450mts. Then retrace our route past Sprinkling Tarn, Angle Tarn and back down Rosset Gill to the ODG. for well earned refreshments.

If anybody would like to come along and not do the whole walk you can. While we go up Great gable you can wait at Sty Head tarn.

Don't forget to take plenty of water and sun screen! And hat and gloves.

Sat 16 Jun - Pub treasure hunt in Kendal

A 2 1/2 mile stroll around Kendal that visits 20 pubs with clues to solve. How many pubs you choose to visit is up to you!

We will meet in the Ring O Bells by Kendal Parish church at 7pm. We will then set off a few at a time to find the clues in the first three pubs before meeting for Pizza at the Brewery at 8pm. From here we will set off a few at a time to visit the other 17 pubs finishing at Burgundy's to compare answers from 9:30 onwards.

Please let Howard know if you plan on coming by Thursday 14th June so we know how many treasure hunt clue sheets to prepare and also how many to book for at the Brewery.

Sun 10 June - Red Screes/Fairfield

Start Point: Roadside parking beside the River Rothay / Rothay Park, Ambleside G.R. NY 371044 @ 09.30
Description: After walking through the park & Ambleside centre (food re-supply possible?) we head East, up the Struggle's road, for about ¾ of a mile. We then turn onto the FP to climb the ridge that crosses Snarker Pike & continues on to Red Screes. Following the wall NW we'll cross Scandale Pass &, after a wire fence, reach Scandale Tarn. We can possibly make a slight detour here, on the RHS, to the summit of Little Hart Crag for good views of Dovedale (N) & Scandale (S). After crossing the boggy Bakestones Moss we then climb (200m'ish) onto Dove Crag (which is part of the Fairfield Horseshoe) & accross to the NE is the Priest's Hole Cave (if visibility is OK!). Next we follow the ridge over Hart Crag & onto Fairfield itself, before descending S over Great Rigg, Rydal Fell, Heron Pike then Nab Scar. Then it's just down past Rydal Mount, turning E past Rydal Hall & following the FP to pop out on the A591 by Scandale bridge. After turning L it's only ½ a mile or so back into Ambleside.
Distance: 13 miles (21 km)
Total Ascent: 950 metres (3115 ft.)
High Point: Fairfield - 873 metres (2863 ft.)
Time: 7-8 hours
Grade: 3 / 4
