New Years Eve - Keswick

NEW YEARS EVE NIGHT OUT

Slight change of plan. A few of us are going down (2 ppl driving who dont drink).
Meet at Claires D house around 7pm. Chippy, drive to Keswick. Pubs. Latrigg at midnight, The loft nightclub before home. All welcome to stay overnight for Emmas new years day walk.

Sun 27th Dec - Whin Rigg & Illgill Head

Note added 26 Dec: I have been to the car park today. It's very icy, and slippery. It will probably be a bit less tomorrow, but not gone completely. If anyone wants to meet at Gosforth village car park, grid ref NY067035 (opposite village shop), to car share, leaving at 0920, then please let me know.

Please note that this walk will be dependent on the weather, so please let me know if you are coming. Due to the short days, you must bring a torch with you.

Start at 0930 at the car park at Irton Pike on the left of the road from as you head from Santon Bridge to Eskdale Green, NY122012. Click here for a map.

Route will be Irton Pike, along the ridge to Whin Rigg and Illgill Head, then down to Burnmoor Tarn, and back via Miterdale. Distance approx 11 miles, total ascent approx 600 metres.

Sun 13th Dec - Grasmere

THIS WALK WAS ORIGINALLY PLANNED FOR DECEMBER

Start: Layby A591, north of Grasmere, near Swan Pub. GR: 339 084
9.45am for 10'0'clock start.

Nearest toilets: Car Park GR 339 073 - we won't be passing them from start point

Easedale to Easedale tarn, Stythwaite Steps, up Far Easedale, Brownrigg Moss, Calf Crag, Moment Crag, Gibson Knot, Helm Crag and back to Grasmere.

14km, 5 - 51/2 hours. Grasmere 89m --> highest point 537m
This walk was very wet and boggy when I did it!
Tea shop at end

If anyone is interested in this walk pls get in touch as will be weather dependant. The route can be changed to a short low level walk with pub lunch at the end, however the roads are very flooded at the moment and travel there may prove difficult.

Start: 10:30hrs Walna Scar Road Car Park, Coniston. Grid Ref: SD 289 971.

Description: Dow Crag (778m) and The Old Man of Coniston (803m)

Ascent: approx 600m

Time: 4-5hrs

Grade:3

Sat 5th Dec - Christmas Ceilidh

Paul B has block booked 12 tickets - all other tickets are now sold. If you contacted Paul for a ticket he will let you know if you are one of the lucky 12. Please get your £8 to Paul asap.

The Details:-
1. The date is Saturday 5th December, 2009.
2. The venue again is Kendal Parish Hall.
3. Doors open 7:30pm. Start 7:45pm. Finish about 11:30pm.
4. Band - 'Tumbling Tom'. Callers - Fiona Rigg and Les Ord. (Possible guest caller!).
5. Entertainment will be along the lines of last years but with some developments!
6. Refreshments also as last year but with soft drinks and additional mulled wine available at reasonable prices.
7. Tickets. Adults A - £8 (same as last year), under 18s Y - £6 and under 5s C - free.
