Sun 20 Jan - Angletarn Pikes/The Knott

Standing at the southern tip of Ullswater, Angletarn Pikes provide some of the finest views available in the Far Eastern Fells.

Starting in Patterdale, the walk begins by ascending steadily on good paths to Boredale Hause. The path continues up to Angletarn Pikes, where one can admire views of St Sunday crag and Helvellyn. We then continue the climb, with a chance of seeing wild deer, on grassy paths to Rest Dodd and then finally The Knott (739m). The descent via Hayeswater follows the gill to Hartsop. A fairly level walk on tracks takes us back to Patterdale.
Distance: 8.5 miles
Time: 5 hours
Total ascent: 750m
Grade: 3 (Strenuous, fairly brisk pace)
Start: 10 am at the small parking area by the turn-off to Side Farm campsite on the A592 in Patterdale (Grid ref NY394161). Additional parking available at the pay & display car park opposite the Patterdale Hotel.
