Sun 27 Nov - Skiddaw via Longside Edge

Note change of start time to 9:30

A club classic we haven't attempted this since 2009 when we finally succeeded after all those failed attempts. Lets see if my luck is as bad as Jeremy's leading this walk. Its an interesting route up Longside Edge avoiding the popular tourist route. Ps grizedale ideas being saved for another time

Start: 9:30am @ the small layby on the Orthwaite road 500 metres north of the junction with A591. Grid ref NY 237 311 Leader: Matt 07878352150

Sun 6 November - Askham to Pooley Bridge to Howtown via Ullswater

A lowish-level walk from Askham to Pooley Bridge (via Heughscar Hill). Catch the 12.10 Ullswater 'Steamers' (ferry) to Howtown (£5.80 single), and return to Askham via lakeside path. If the weathergods cooperate, we should have fine views of the Pennines, Ullswater and the Helvellyn range.

The lakeside path is very muddy, so gaiters and boots are recommended.

Length: approx. 8 miles, 800 feet of ascent

Start time: 09.30 to allow plenty of time to catch the 12.10 ferry from Pooley Bridge

Car share: 08.50 from Morrisons car park, Kendal (I won't be there)

Start point: Askham Village car park, NY513237
