Morecambe Bay & Lancaster Canal Walk

Description: An easy level walk over pastures, marshland, shore paths and tow paths. From Carnforth we walk to Morecambe Bay Nature Reserve, then into Hest Bank, returning along the Lancaster Canal through Bolton Le sands to Carnforth.

Start: 11 AM GR 492696 Landranger 97, In layby 1 mile south of carnforth on canal side of A6

Distance: 6 miles

Time: 3 hours

Whinfell Ridge and Borrowdale


Sunday 21st January
Alister lead a very good this weekend, we had some hail, rain, sun and a lot of wind! I think his 8mile estimate was false advertising...definitely hit the double figures.

WALK FOR SUNDAY 21st JANUARY 2007 - Whinfell Ridge and Borrowdale

Whinfell Ridge and Borrowdale ( and possibly Whinash)
Situated between Kendal and Tebay this walk covers some quieter fells just outside the National Park. Starting at Huck`s Bridge and following the ridge up Ashstead Fell (469m) Mabbin Crag (482) Castle Fell (478) and Whinfell Beacon (472), then dropping down past the mast ( just visible from Kendal) to Borrowdale and following the river back up to Huck`s Bridge. There may be the option of returning back along Whinash ( 471) ridge instead, depending on time and legs.

Time: 5-6 hours
Car Share: Meet at Morrisons, A6 Kendal at 9.00
Start: Huck`s Bridge ( G.R.NY553038) on A6 about 8 miles north of Kendal 9.30
